The Children’s Community Network will be presenting the development, testing, and implementation of the Respite Eligibility Tool at the 8th International Short Break Association Conference happening October 10 -12, 2012 in Toronto. The conference attracts people from around the world who have a vested interest in respite (called short break in the UK).
The agency began the research and development of the Respite Eligibility Tool with the assistance of Carol Kauppi (a researcher from Laurentian University) in 2008. The tool has been in use with families since then and continues to be revised and reviewed to ensure reliability. When this work began, a literature review revealed no known eligibility tools in existence in Canada, the United States or in the UK. The agency is now working at completing an updated literature review and writing an article on this work to submit for publishing.
The Children’s Community Network looks forward to presenting this information to such a diverse audience.
